Cheat Mountain Challenge is This Weekend!
The Cheat Mountain Challenge on August 15 will offer road cyclists two excellent opportunities to put in some quality miles: a century road ride and a metric century road ride, both beginning and ending on top of Snowshoe Mountain. The theme of the ride is "A little bit of heaven. A whole lot of hill." The ride is a fundraiser to support the West Virginia Cycling Foundation, which supports safe and enjoyable cycling in West Virginia. Parkersburg Bicycle is a proud sponsor of the Cheat Mountain Challenge. The full century ride will net participants 10,000 feet of climbing in approximately 108 miles. The century will include a 22-mile section of the Highland Scenic Highway, the highest elevated road in the East. The metric century covers approximately 71 miles, including some of the Highland Scenic Highway. The ride offers challenging climbs, thrilling downhills and some of the most spectacular vistas in the country. The ride also features fully-stocked aid stations and sag support.
